Cullman Regional Medical Center will receive $2.5 million for a surgical robot through the FY 2026 Labor, Health, and Human Services, Education, and Related Industries Appropriations Act, according to an Oct. 29 announcement from the Office of U.S. Senator Katie Britt.
The announcement says the funding will support the purchase of a robot to equip the medical center’s surgical team to perform complex procedures with greater precision. It does not give a purchase date or a timeline for when the robot will be in use.
According to the announcement, robotic-assisted surgery can allow surgeons to operate through smaller incisions, potentially reducing blood loss, pain and scarring while supporting faster recovery. The investment is also expected to improve surgical efficiency, help lower the overall cost of care and expand access to advanced surgical services for patients in Cullman and the surrounding region, the announcement says.
Britt said the funding is intended to enhance surgical capabilities and improve patient outcomes, according to the announcement. Cullman Regional Chief Executive Officer James Clements thanked Britt for her support and for making investments in the community, the announcement reports.
The announcement does not provide a contact person, phone number or address for further information.
